Recently, Professor Jinde CAO from School of Mathematics, SEU received a congratulatory letter from President H. C. Felix Unger of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts for Professor Cao’s election as member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and his outstanding achievement in the research field.
The Academy’s mission is to stimulate cross-disciplinary collaboration between reputable scientists of all disciplines, leading artists and practitioners of governance. Their purpose is to analyze important societal challenges and to help solving complex issues for the wellbeing of Europeans’ future.
The Academy brings together over 2000 eminent scholars and practitioners, among them 31 Nobel Prize winners, from across Europe. They are divided into 8 classes: Humanities; Medicine; Arts; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences, Law and Economics; Technical and Environmental Sciences; World Religions; Corporate and Public Governance.
The Protectors of the Academy are several Heads of State. Its list of Honorary Senators comprises many distinguished leaders, such as former Prime Ministers or Ministers from various countries, former Presidents of the Commission of the European Union, and others.
The Academy gives an annual Tolerance Prize to persons or institutions with exceptional merit for building bridges and promoting tolerance between communities. The activities of the Academy take place by class or between them. They are decided annually by the Senate.
Professor Cao has made fundamental contributions to the mathematical theory and applications of neural networks, neurodynamic systems and complex dynamical networks. He has been selected as Member of Academia Europaea (Academy of Europe), Fellow of Pakistan Academy of Sciences and IEEE Fellow. He has been named as Highly Cited Researcher in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering by Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics. He is the top-one author of 20 most-cited authors on the topic of artificial neural networks (http://esi-topics.com/art-neu-net/) during 1997-2007 with two papers listed in the 20 most-cited papers. His works are widely recognized, and are written into the annual report of the National Natural Science Foundation of China as one of 15 excellent funded projects, and has more than 26690 citations with H-index of 87 according to ISI-Web of Science. He has received, among others, National Innovation Award of China, Thomson Reuters Research Fronts Award, Thomson Reuters China Citation Laureates Award, first class Science and Technology Award by Jiangsu Province of China, and second class Natural Science Award by Ministry of Education of China.
